Icarus - Teaball

Description

This is a rather small for a tea infuser, the longer, straight edge of the lid measures only about 33mm. Gets about half a teaspoon in good though, so it's useful for people who like their tea really mild, or who tend to overdo the brewing (like me).

The front and back are high-polished with Kum Boo done in some spare gold foil I dug up. The spiral in front was tricky to cut out, but I had thought out the process carefully and managed without any major screwups. The only real problem came with handling the torch as I lacked a proper heating plate, so heat fluctuation was quite bad and my poor agate burnisher started crazing badly.

UPDATE: My doubts have finally got the better of me, and I have since replaced the tigertail with a proper sterling-silver chain...

So the handle is in sterling silver, and so is the chain, with a tourmalinated quartz bead. Chamber is mostly sterling silver, with gold foil added on front and back, and fine silver bezel wire for the bit that slots in.

And the prop is a slate coaster.

Part of my current assignment, which also includes a Salt & Pepper set.

What I like about this piece is the handle. I'm drawn to that portion of it. I see the spiral but I cant make out the other images that you have. Is this related to Greek mythology?
